In this sixth week of developing high-fidelity prototypes for the Google UX Design Certification, I have worked throughout an entire development, testing and iteration process in order to design a mobile application for a dessert shop.
This project consisted of laying the foundations of functionality and design for the Pastry Shop application, starting from the problem based on the need of customers for a fast and efficient service when placing orders through the app.
My role in this project ranges from research and user empathy, to delivery and testing of the finished prototype, with responsibilities such as creating digital and paper wirframes, conducting interviews, creating low and high fidelity prototypes, conducting usability studies, iterating on designs, and considering accessibility.

Understanding THE USER
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand user needs, identifying the target audience and a series of functionalities to implement in the application.

STARTING THE DESIGN
Creating paper wireframes was key to developing digital diagrams with a practical approach for the user. The simple and intuitive design is what motivates the user to navigate the app.

REFINING THE DESIGN
The first designs allowed me to define some functionalities, as well as the general appearance and distribution of elements in the application.

Throughout this project I conducted two rounds of usability studies. The first study revealed weak points in the design that improved the foundation for the mockups. The second study allowed me to refine the design of the mockups for the high-fidelity prototype.

GOING FORWARD
The app offers quality and an excellent alternative for placing orders, and also reflects the commitment that UX design has for the user.
What I learned when designing the Pastry Shop app is that everything is an iterative process that seeks continuous improvement. Through usability studies and the consultation of additional information and resources, what begins as a simple idea or a drawing on paper that seeks to solve a problem is improved.
I will soon be conducting another round of usability studies to validate and improve the current state of the app, covering accessibility aspects and investigating new areas or needs for users. Thank you for looking at my work, contact me to learn more about this or other projects.
